Langkawi Senses

Keeping his eye on things

Dear readers or lookers,

I think I should just point out that this magazine will probably reflect mostly the views of myself and friends, all of whom live on this island because they want to.

Also as a dedicated photographer it was once pointed out to me that a magazine it should consist mostly of pictures which people could look through quickly. Writing was just to be informative about the pictures.
In some cases, as we are building up more to put in the magazine, there will just be pictures under certain headings, future writing to expand on this subject will be inserted, when it is ready..

It is hoped that the genuine increase of visitors from many foreign countries to this beautiful island will respect the way of life that is already here and enjoy it.
We will try to give as much information as possible, but the target audience as we have said will be for those who have little or no knowledge of Langkawi before they come here.
We are assuming of course that Malaysians who are coming, on what they consider to be a local holiday, probably know what to expect, but we will be delighted if they are helped.

We should be happy to hear from anybody of their experiences on this island, or recommendations, which may be of interest to others, or perhaps even genuine complaints, as long as it is strictly non political.

Senses will try to engage all of your five senses in your enjoyment of these very beautiful island .

A more esoteric reason to visit should be my thoughts on the possible new 'Legend'... of Langkawi
as I describe in the Island Horses...........
How did the famous Langkawi Horses come to the island...?????

We are still waiting for the final approval to be given for a new aviation company to arrive here with their Emergency Medical Evacuation Helicopter. This will be a great boost for the reputation of the island as anybody here suffering grave immediate medicial problems, or severe accident, can be instantly taken to Penang or Alor Sitar for fast emergency procedures.
Apart from that there will be helicopter charter for island tours or nature adventures, some of which will take people to fascinating places...

Which bring us to the recent UNESCO granting of Geo-Park status to Langkawi and of course all of its 99 islands, if you could find them....The fantastic geological story of these islands is of course of interest, and is amazing, but most people dont know about it and or having heard arent enthusiastic....
BUT Eco-Tourism, possible here, is still world beating and should be widely promoted.
To be able to enjoy the great beaches and good sea, then can be widened with good advice to see so much of the Jungle, the Mangrove, the Mountains,  the Padi fields, and all over the fauna and especially the flora..........and of course some of the caves and rock faces  which can be reached with ease are fascinating too.........

This beautiful rock is just minutes from a great beach anyway.....

Hoping to see more of you soon........
